Constructs’ founder, Douglas McR. McKean, RA, RLA, LEED BD+C AP is an Architect, Landscape Architect, and LEED
Accredited Professional who has dedicated his career to environmental
stewardship through the design, renovation, restoration, and construction of
buildings. Doug is also accredited by the NCARB.
His projects include work on nearly every building
type, including the restoration of Grand Central Terminal and several consulting assignments on the World Trade Center
Redevelopment in Lower Manhattan.
His past projects (listed below) include projects while with Beyer Blinder Belle Architects and Planners LLP, Yale University, and Columbia University, as well as other firms / entities. His work at Yale University and Columbia University
developed and honed his understanding of issues from the building owner’s
perspective. His experience in value engineering of projects has identified potential
savings of hundreds of million of dollars.
Doug is a presenter for The Climate Reality Project and developed / taught a
sustainability course at Columbia University. He has spoken
nationally about the reuse of existing buildings being the front line of
